“For God so loved the world that He gave His only son. That whosoever believes in Him shall not die, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
Today mummy Anu Akinsola taught us on giving and quoted John 3:16 amongst under scriptures. I saw something new in that scripture (God bless her) and she explained it wella: The relationship between loving and giving.
Love fuels giving. Like money is the Keke (vehicle) of ministry, so is love the keke of giving. You can’t love and not give…i.e you can’t give without the character of LOVE. And we should give, not just during Christmas period, but always. Loving and giving should be our default attitude as children of God.
Also, now is the time to give. If you don’t learn to give now as young people, don’t expect to know how to give when you start earning more money. Give!
Ehen, lest I forget….let not your giving be because you wanna receive or wanna be known or just because Pastor Tiolu said you should give or mummy Anu said you should give….Yes o, there is always a reward for giving, but that should not be your reason for giving. Give for the right reasons, give to bless God, give to bless lives.
And who/what do we give to?
– We give to God. We give ourselves to God. If I must add, totally and completely, open to Him in totality.
– We give our time to God
– We devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word (Acts 6:4)
– We give to God: With our thanksgiving, our tithes (Mal.3:10), our money etc…
– We give to ministers and leaders….very key. Not because they need money or they are hungry, but because giving to our spiritual leaders is biblical and honouring them is honouring God.
And these are the things I learnt from mummy Anu’s teaching. That God loves givers and not just a giver, but a cheerful giver…And I will emphasize, your giving shouldn’t be seasonal, only Christmas and valentine, and it shouldn’t be only to family and friends, but also to supposed foes and enemies and people that you’re unfamiliar with.
Giving should be a default character like loving is.
I will end by saying, look at God, be like God: He loved us, He gave Christ. Love someone, love people….show that love in your giving and by giving.
Have an awesome week, family
God bless you!
