“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
This past Sunday was such a beautiful day. God decided to speak in diverse ways. Even as talk of Easter constituted bulk of the sermons, John 3:16 seemed to ring a bell in my mind. One of the things, I kept ruminating over was: how will God send His only son to die to save us and then turn back and point accusing fingers at us?
Logically, it doesn’t add up and I came to a conclusion that spiritually, physically and all the ‘allys’ in the world, it is very illogical for God to condemn us. The vice president of my fellowship said something yesterday when she was preaching and it stuck. She said and I paraphrase, “God doesn’t hate us. God hates our sins. Most times, we forget this.”
Very true. Satan ensures that we forget the enormous love of the One who sent His only son to die for us when we feel guilty…but it is my prayer that even as we mark the death of Christ, the love of Christ will be made real in our hearts and minds and we would come to that understanding, that God is love, full of mercy and compassion.
God bless us.
